How to Be Both a BraveHeart and a Super Hero Today
United States – April 26, 2023 – BraveHearts for Kids, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization BraveHeart and a Super Hero this April 28th. Join in helping celebrate National Day Calendar’s National BraveHearts’s Day and National Super Hero’s Day which both fall on the same day.
Founded in 2008, BraveHearts For Kids mission is to provide life-saving hope and inspiration to families facing a pediatric cancer ordeal through outreach, information and mentoring. The founders Jeremy and Amy Jacobs wanted to help other families after their own daughter Ava was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma brain tumor at only 13 months old. In an early interview, Jeremy describes: “That moment changed our lives down to the very core of our being. The journey we traveled brought us down to our knees, shattering our paradigms of everything we knew of as “normal. In our darkest hour, by chance we discovered an alternate approach not available at our hospital.”
The treatment that saved their daughter’s life, was “Proton Radiation Therapy” which selectively targets the tumor while greatly minimizing damage to surrounding brain tissue. While Ava was treated at MD Anderson Hospital, the Jacobs met other pediatric cancer families who had traveled to Houston from all over the country. Many had sold their homes and quit their jobs to be there. “And yet”, Jeremy says wistfully, “… We knew of so many other families who couldn’t afford the very best that medicine could offer, even when insurance was there to help”.
When asked why he has gone to such extraordinary measures to fight for kids with Pediatric Cancer, Jeremy quietly responded, “As we watched the miracle of our daughter’s recovery unfold, and witnessed so many others suffer… we promised ourselves that we would do anything we could to try and help the “next” family to afford the very best care available.” Bravehearts for Kids continues to make good on that promise. Since 2008 they have given support and money to families in dire straights.
You too can be a BraveHeart’s Super Hero this year and help support families struggling with a pediatric cancer diagnosis on April 28th and beyond. BraveHearts is calling all Super Heros today looking for volunteers, donors, and sponsors to help as many families as possible.
